The last ten days of December are a time for rest and relaxation for many of us, especially days after the night of feasting and gift-giving leading up to New Year’s Eve.

While we enjoy the pleasures of the holiday season, there are countless individuals and families who are less fortunate. For them, Christmas Day may be just another day of the year, and the joy and warmth that others experience may be out of reach. Some don’t even have roofs above their heads during these intermittent December rains.

They are working long hours just to make ends meet, struggling to put food on the table and provide shelter for themselves and their loved ones. Rinse and repeat.

It is in these moments that we must pause and reflect on the things we take for granted. Our warm homes, our comfortable beds, our abundant food supply – these are not luxuries that everyone enjoys. Instead, they are privileges that many of us have simply been born into, without ever having to work for them.

So let us not forget the less fortunate during this holiday season, We need to take concrete actions to make a difference in the lives of others. Whether it be donating money to a local charity or volunteering at a soup kitchen, there are countless ways that we can extend a helping hand to those who are struggling.

We must be mindful of the struggles faced by others throughout the year, and work together to build a more just and equitable society for all. By doing so, we can help to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the blessings of life, not just during the holiday season, but throughout the year and for generations to come.
