It’s a new normal weekend again, the time we’ve been looking forward to every week. The moment of relaxation, the chance to wander around, be with family or friends, or just stay at home and sleep all day long. But not everyone can afford to do the weekend rest that we enjoy and take for granted.

While most of us are thinking where to go or what to cook for lunch on Saturdays and Sundays, some people work 7 days a week and can’t even sit or stay calm for more than an hour. Others are constantly worrying if they can earn enough throughout the day to sustain themselves or their families for the coming week.

Can you imagine what’s their situation during the hard lockdowns these past few months? If they don’t earn they don’t get to eat.

With these bustling markets and crowded streets, it seems that there is no pandemic at all. The infection rate is rising each passing day and the frontliners are very exhausted but I think these people will continue to do their thing no matter what lockdown is imposed. For them, it’s either death by COVID19 or death by hunger or depression for failing to provide.

The everyday scene makes me think what is “new” in the new normal for these people except for masks and face shields.

Edited: The story I conveyed at first is a bit one-sided, I disregarded the frontliners who are very exhausted due to the continuous rise of infected patients because people don’t care, hence the existence of the photos that I captured. But it is a really hard question, would you let these people starve to death & forced them inside their homes if the government can’t even provide basic needs? They need to eat too, its a human instinct to survive and they will do anything to stay alive.
